Lots of updates!

Wow--so much to cover. Updating the lab website is something that got lost in the shuffle to stay afloat in the last ~2 years. With gratitude for a resilient, creative and collaborative team the lab is stronger than ever. Here are some highlights to catch you up:

  • January 2020 we wished Juan Varela, original member of the lab and senior research associate farewell as he (gasp) retired from science and returned home to Chile.

  • September 2021 Nathan Rieger (left in inset) relocated his family and started a 2nd postdoc in Seattle. Just before he left he was awarded a Brain and Behavior Research Foundation NARSAD Award!! A long time coming for Nathan.

  • June 2022 PhD student turned postdoc Nick Worley took a position at Zero Day Diagnostics as a machine learning specialist.

  • Awards! Fall 2021 PhD student Alex Ng reviewed an Society for Neuroscience Travel Award and Spring 2022 PhD student Anthony Djerdjaj received a travel award for Stress Neurobiology Workshop (our first in person conference since C-19)!

  • In the last ~2 years the lab has hosted about 15 Boston College undergraduate fellows!

  • January 2022 we welcomed both Dr. Matthew Cooper (U of Tennessee) for his sabbatical leave and visiting scholar Lucas Barretto de Souza who is spending 2022 in our lab as part of his fellowship at UNESP in São Paulo State University.

  • Papers! 7 new original data manuscripts from the lab and commentaries in Neuropsychopharmacology and Science (https://jchristianson4.wixsite.com/jcbc/pubs).

  • Last but not least, a new lab photo!

  • The lab is looking for a postdoc, or possibly a research assistant (BA, BS, MA/MS level) to start immediately.
